Moor Allerton Golf Club, Leeds, West Yorkshire. A 27-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr designed golf course, blending beautifully with the surrounding West Yorkshire landscape.
Many famous players walked the fairways of Moor Allerton in the days when the European Tour came here. Seve Ballesteros and Nick Faldo to name a couple. Over several years, Ryder Cup player Howard Clark was attached to Moor Allerton Golf Club as playing professional. Peter Alliss, who was the Head Professional in the early 70’s, said that ‘Moor Allerton Golf Club is a golfing experience larger than life’.
Over a period of 40 years Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed or modified more than 500 courses world-wide including Valderrama, Firestone, Spyglass Hill and Sotogrande. Moor Allerton Golf Club is the only course he designed in the UK. It is unique.
He laid out 27 holes on 220 acres of undulating Yorkshire countryside in three distinct loops of nine. It is different to its neighbours having large, contoured greens, large teeing areas, boldly shaped bunkers and, of course, water hazards.
