It’s probably the most talked about new course since Kingsbarns first thrust onto the scene in a blaze of publicity 20 years ago. Dumbarnie Links is the newest addition to an already crowded Fife corridor and the Clive Clark design has been getting rave reviews since it opened at the end of May.
While the coronavirus pandemic stalled international travel, and robbed Dumbarnie of any international visitors, tee sheets have still been full as UK golfers flocked to be among the first to play the new Leven layout.
Visually the course blends in with it’s natural surroundings. The 1st tee stands above the rest looking over the course, however unlike it’s neighbour Kingsbarns, from the 2nd onwards you will rarely be able to see another hole, giving the feeling that you have the course to yourself.
The course itself is very playable, generous fairways and challenging approaches are the order of the day with lots or risk and reward coming into play. Be sure to pick the right tee to give yourself a chance at each of the three driveable par 4’s. The fairways and greens are firm and very much play like a links course and if you didn’t know you would do well to guess it was only opened in May 2020.
With the clubhouse now complete Dumbarnie is a fantastic all round experience on and off the course. Be sure to allow time pre and post round to maximise your day at this fantastic new club.
